A 4-year-old boy from Brazil has impressed his parents and netizens around the world by learning how to ride the waves completely unaided on his own surfboard.

Litte Joao Vitor’s skills for water sports impressed his parents when he was just a toddler. He learned how to stand without any assistance on a surfboard at the age of 2. And before he hand turned one, he had already started going to a swimming school.

Joao picked up swimming and surfing after seeing his dad and older sister out in the sea every day, said his mother Camilla Chuque Braga.

“He started swimming school when he was seven months old. His Sister Maria Clara and his father surf all day and introduced this sport into his life,” said Camila.

“My husband always pushed Maria in the waves with Joao on his lap, so one day he asked to catch a wave just like his sister. That was when he pushed Joao and saw that he knew what he was doing,” she added.

Camilla added that she and her husband were taken aback when their son mastered the technique of standing up on a surfboard at the age of 2.

“When he stood up the first time me and my husband, who was helping him, did not believe it because he was just a baby. My husband thought he would just stay lying down on the surfboard, but he stood up and surfed the wave straight,” said Camilla.

Now, 4, Joao goes to the ocean regularly with his sister and his own surfboard.

The siblings usually surf in the beachfront of their house, said Camilla.

The mother said she already gets a lot of questions about her son’s future in water sports.

“I think he got interested in the sport very early and practices very well for his age but I think it’s too early to know if he will be a professional surfer,” said Camilla.
