KEYED UP KENOSHA - PIANOS

In April of 2018, local artist Kelly Witte works on her piano at the Kenosha News for the outdoor “Keyed Up Kenosha” art installation of pianos. Witte has an exhibit on display at ArtWorks.

Enjoy these Kenosha area events and more this weekend:

Saturday (Nov. 9), attend the Veterans Day Commemorative Celebration at the Civil War Museum, 5400 First Ave. The Navy Club 40 hosts a program and reception at 11 a.m., followed at noon by the Navy Band Great Lakes Brass Ambassadors concert. This is a free event. For more information, call 262-653-4141.

Also Saturday, enjoy the Rhode Center for the Arts Casino Night at Rhode Center for the Arts, 514 56th St. Lakeside Players presents this fundraiser for the continued restoration of the historic 92-year-old theater, which the community theater troupe has inhabited since 1985. A $50 ticket includes appetizers, two free drinks, $500 in play money, music, silent auctions and raffles. Doors and cash bar open at 6:30 p.m. with the gambling from 7 to 9 p.m. For more information, call 262-657-7529.

Saturday night, attend an artist reception for the “Prehistoric Divas” art exhibit, 6 to 9 p.m. at Artworks, 4513 Sheridan Road. “Prehistoric Divas” features the work of artist Kelly Witte. The exhibit is inspired by her fondness for dinosaurs, street art and “low brow pop surrealism.” The exhibit will showcase an all-new series of handsewn and hand-beaded art dolls. Admission is free. This is on display through Dec. 12. For more information, call 262-652-5911.

All day Saturday, attend the Healthy Living Fair, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kenosha YMCA, 7101 53rd St.

Several area health professionals and organizations will be at the YMCA offering health screenings and educational information. There will also be family activities at this free event. For more information, call 262-654-9622.

Sunday, enjoy “Dynamite Dinosaurs,” noon to 3 p.m. at the Kenosha Public Museum, 5500 First Ave.

Enjoy stories, crafts, fossils and a dino dig. At 1 p.m., visitors can meet Frankie, a life-sized walking, roaring baby T.rex! This free activity is co-sponsored by the Kenosha Public Museum and Kenosha Public Library. For more information, call 262-653-4140.
