Lucky foursome get shot of a lifetime at Nitro Circus – Sunshine Coast Daily

JUST weeks out from the Nitro Circus Tour, four budding stars have vied off for a spot on the high-flying, all-action show, under the assumption that there was only one winner.

Young amateur riders Harley Allen, Andrew Hutchison, Zaik Chappell and Will Barlow have all been training the house down at BMX legend Ryan Williams Sunshine Coast property.

Yesterday, they were put through their paces for the shot of a lifetime.

But Nitro Circus and Williams were both so “blown away” with the standards and had no choice but to reward all four riders with a place.

Williams, who allowed the young guns a chance to train at his state-of-the-art arena at his Sunshine Coast property, said the guys would soon be rival competitors.

“These guys had never hit a mega ramp a few weeks ago, but now they’re pulling off tricks that no one else in the world are doing,” Williams said.

“The calibre of tricks they’re doing is insane and they all deserve a shot at the big time.

“To even attempt some of the things is mental, like a quadruple backflip, that is so difficult.

“I am so excited to be under lights on the Sunshine Coast with my mates and taking it to the show.”

Allen, Hutchison and Chappell will fly the local flag, while Melbourne’s Barlow will do their thing at the blockbuster show at Sunshine Coast Stadium on March 29.

All four were speechless when Williams told them the news.

For Eudlo’s Allen, who this week fractured his ankle while wakeboarding, being selected was not only a huge shock but a dream come true.

He was devastated to miss the trial but was over the moon at the chance.

“It’s been a childhood dream for as long as I can remember. Just seeing the Nitro guys doing their thing was unreal,” Allen said.

“I can’t wait.”

Hutchison too was equally rapt and phoned his mum immediately.

“I remember telling Harley last year that 2020 was going to be our year, now two months in we’re doing the Nitro Circus,” Hutchison said.

Nitro Circus spokesman Nathan Brown said the level of riding had to be seen to be believed.

“It wasn’t part of the plan at all, but we couldn’t split these guys,” Brown said.

“We had two world firsts almost landed, a bunch of other ridiculous tricks. Flips, bar spins, whips, you name it. They delivered.”
