Emergency services were called about 1.15pm on Wednesday and paramedics tried desperately to save the man’s life at Frenchmans Beach at Point Lookout.

A rescue helicopter was initially dispatched to the scene from the mainland, but the man was later declared dead at the scene.

It is believed the man may have become separated from his bodyboard offshore and got into trouble.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner and there are no suspicious circumstances.
