* Bodyboarding

Jan. 25-26–The 23rd annual Paia Bay Beachfest is scheduled for Jan. 25-26 on the beach at the Paia Youth & Cultural Center. The family-friendly showcase for Maui’s young bodyboarders and surfers will begin with an event blessing on Jan. 25, with the first heat in the water at 8 a.m. For the first time, all registration will be done online (no beach entry). Registration is open through Jan. 23. Divisions include menehune, juniors, wahine, kane, drop knee and Maui’s only soft-top surfing. Additionally, there will be a cash-prize pro-am division for all ages, and expression-sessions for surfers throughout the weekend. The entry fee is $30, and $10 per additional division. * Running

Feb. 1–The Pacific Whale Foundation’s annual Run & Walk for Whales is scheduled for Feb. 1 at the Maalaea Harbor Shops. The event starts at 7 a.m. and includes four race distances — 10 miles, 10 kilometers, 5K and 1 mile. The early-bird registration fees range from $35 (1 mile) to $55 (10 miles).
