Windsurfing at SEA Games rescheduled, as officials cite Tisoy threat – ABS-CBN News

MANILA (UPDATE)—Southeast Asian Games organizers on Sunday canceled windsurfing events at Subic Bay Yacht Club set to begin Monday, citing bad weather.

SEA Games Subic cluster chairman Ramon Agregado said the events will be moved to “a date when weather will be cleared from typhoon.”

Typhoon Tisoy (Kammuri) is expected to make landfall on Monday night or early Tuesday, the state weather bureau earlier said.

On Tuesday, “frequent to continuous heavy rains” are expected over Metro Manila, Bicol, Calabarzon, Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, and Bulacan, it added.

The PAGASA also raised signal no. 2, second-lowest wind signal, over Catanduanes, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar. Nineteen other areas were placed under signal no. 1.

Windsurfing was originally scheduled at Lighthouse Jetty Area and Subic Bay Yacht Club, respectively from Nov. 28 to Dec. 9.

That original timeframe included practices, weighing and measuring of equipment, and competition proper. Depending on the effects of typhoon “Tisoy,” the two events could be moved to Dec. 5, said venue manager Julious Macam.
