San Angelo Police and Fire Department personnel were dispatched to Lake Nasworthy after a boating incident, according to a police Facebook post.

About 1 p.m., Friday, July 19, 2019, officials found a 19-year-old man suffering lacerations caused by a boat’s engine propeller. He was transported to Shannon Medical Center where he is undergoing treatment.

A preliminary investigation by the Department’s Lake Patrol Unit revealed the teen had been wakeboarding with friends before the incident.

Alcohol was not a factor and the teen was wearing a life jacket, according to the post.

Police did not release the teen’s name of his condition late Friday evening.

The incident comes just shy of two weeks after a girl was injured by a disabled boat propeller while swimming with friends. The 11-year-old was transported to Shannon Medical Center and was in stable condition a day after the incident, according to police.
