If you’ve found adulthood to be a bit of a bore, escape to C Mauritius where being a grown-up and playing with the abandon of a child is par for the course

C Resorts, the latest brand from Constance Hotels, Resorts and Golf, has been designed to transport guests back to the days when a new bike was like a lottery win and imagination was everything.

“This is a place to reconnect with your inner child and let go of your adult concerns.” This mantra is front and centre of the brand’s offering and everything you’ll find in the first hotel, C Mauritius, stems from a desire to create genuine, fort-building, staying-up-past-bedtime, sweets-for-breakfast fun.

Where else would you find an enormous beach shower/jukebox? Dancing on the sand is certainly a sport we can all enjoy at any age.

Then there’s the Cwing, a giant swing hung from the palm treetops that will suit those who like to sit on high and relax, or those who prefer some high-octane soaring through the sky – Superman arms optional.

Moving from old-fashioned fun to state-of-the-art service, the lobby of the hotel is home to the most extraordinary barman in the world. The Concoctor is a machine that looks as if it belongs in a mad scientist’s laboratory, with the sole purpose of making the perfect cocktail or mocktail every time. Move over, mixologists.

Even the way guests enter the hotel has been designed to remove them from their complicated lives and transport them to somewhere simpler, purer, and more natural. The concept of “nature’s playground” is on show immediately as they enter through foliage and emerge into island paradise – a physical journey with an emotional impact.

The role of nature across the resort is always evident, most strikingly perhaps in the outdoor gym called Circuit. The entire workout area is made purely from natural materials.

Wherever you look guests will find touches that are reminders of their younger selves. These, alongside a variety of activities, eateries and events, focus the mind away from work, bills, and stress and place it in the glorious present, in the happy past and on a potentially purer future. Is it possible to worry about anything when you’re paddle-boarding, snorkelling, windsurfing or cruising through the Indian Ocean in a pirogue (a traditional boat) on the hunt for sea urchins? Can one be stressed when popping into the Cpicerie to pick up a picnic deli snack or fresh coffee to enjoy in the sun? And how likely are you to worry about the daily grind when you’re in a premium all-inclusive environment where just about everything you can think of is included and decision making is simplified?
