Riders list announced for 2020 Red Bull King of the Air – SurferToday

The big air kiteboarding event held in Cape Town, South Africa, will debut a new competitive format.

And there’s a female competitor – Angely Bouillot – among the 24 chosen ones. She has been trying to be selected for three years, and now she has a chance to unleash her talent.

The 2020 Red Bull King of the Air will also have a record number of five local riders: Jason van der Spuy, Joshua Emanuel, Oswald Smith, Ross-Dillon Player, and Stuart Downey.

Four riders qualified through the brand new four satellite events that took place around the world.

Round 1 and 2 will showcase the 12 winners of the video contest, and the top four kiteboarders from the Fly to Red Bull King of the Air Qualifier.

These rounds will run in a mobile format, depending on the best wind conditions – it could be either the Kite Beach, in Blouberg, or Witsand/Misty Cliffs.

Round 3 will feature the top six riders from the last year’s KBOTA edition, plus 12 qualified athletes from Round 1 and 2.

The waiting period for the 2020 Red Bull King of the Air runs from February 1-16, 2020.
