The competition kicks off on July 26 and runs until August 6 at the Enoshima Yacht Harbour, in Enoshima, and will feature 350 athletes.
The Notice of Race features the official conditions for the ten sailing events at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, including details on the rules, regulations, entry and qualification guidelines, format, scoring, schedule, venue, and courses.
The competitive format for all events is fleet racing. All RS:X Olympic sailors must bring their equipment. This time, it will not be provided by the organizer.
The maximum number of entries for the Men’s Windsurfer is 25, and for the Women’s Windsurfer is 27.
The RS:X Class will have 12 races for the male athletes and 12 races for the female competitors. The maximum number of races per day is three.
The ten highest-ranked windsurfers at the conclusion of the opening series will advance to the medal race.
The Schedule
There are two reserve racing days (July 28 and July 31), the medal race will occur on August 1, and there’s an extra reserve medal race day scheduled for August 2.
The target times for the opening series of 12 races are 20-25 minutes and 20 minutes for the medal race.
Olympic windsurfers will have the opportunity to test the equipment and train in the official venue from May 18 through July 12, 2020.
The RS:X equipment inspection will take place between July 22-23, and the races will run from July 26 through August 2, 2020.
The sailing field has six competition areas: Enoshima, Kamakura, Zushi, Hayama, Sagami, and Fujisawa.
Tokyo 2020 will be the last time the RS:X will appear as the official Olympic windsurfing equipment.
