Action Water Sports: Riding Out The Final Wave of Summer – 9&10 News

It’s hard to believe fall is right around the corner. Soon enough the temperatures will begin to drop here in Northern Michigan but that isn’t stopping locals from soaking up the last few weeks of summer out on the lake!

“The minute I hit the water is just pure happiness,” says Brett Dense, with Action Water Sports in Traverse City. When he’s not at work, you can find Brett in his element out on the water wakesurfing and wakeboarding with his friend Saeth Gronberg.

“Some of the tricks that I was doing were an air rally, a scarecrow, a whirlybird and an off axis 360,” says Brett Dense. But Dense is learning more out on the lake than just a few fancy tricks. He says, “It has helped me push myself and it’s helped me probably just gain confidence.”

For others like Saeth Gronberg, riding man-made waves here in Michigan are a little bit more relaxing in comparison to the California waves he grew up on. “I started surfing in the ocean and when I moved here to Michigan we surf the lake and this is next best thing to getting out and riding a wave,” says Saeth.

Although wakesurfing and wakeboarding look complicated, they are easier to master than you may have initially thought — it just takes patience and a good coach!

Saeth Gronberg says, “In the surfing world if you can have more stoke and spread the stoke It’s great! So it’s really fun to see people learning it and get stoked on it and want to do it more.”
