Here is the latest in KTW’s occasional update on business movement in the Tournament Capital:

MORE INK ON NORTH SHORE

Bigfoot Tattoo has opened in North Kamloops, at Tranquille Road and Yew Street, next to Red Beard Cafe.

Bigfoot is owned and managed by Clay Walker and his partner Lori Blunden, with Kevyn Harper tattooing and Kelly Wright apprenticing under Clay.

Walker apprenticed under Tania Hennigar and he has been tattooing in Kamloops since 2009.

As a self-taught artist Walker began drawing and painting at a young age, referencing the natural world for inspiration.

Realism is a strong point in his art and he tends to use that technique in custom pieces.

Harper trained under Canadian legend Tom Coles. Under an old-school apprenticeship, he became versed in all styles of tattooing.

Wright is an experienced mural artist whose creations can be seen downtown and on the North Shore. Wright is learning the trade as an apprentice to Walker.

MORE PIZZA, TOO

Red Swan Pizza, a chain headquartered in Saskatoon, has officially opened in North Kamloops, next to M&M Meats at 2-716 Sydney Ave.

The spot is Red Swan’s first location in B.C. The Canadian chain has other locations in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.

A CLASSIC PREPARES TO RELOCATE

The German eatery is leaving its longtime home at 120 Third Ave. downtown for a spot on Victoria Street currently occupied by Terra Restaurant. Passek’s Classics will also be opening a bakery in its new space.

Owner Susan Gill Passek said they plan to open the new restaurant/bakery by June 1, with an extension of dinner service from three nights a week and the bakery open seven days a week.

She said her husband, Harry, loves to bake and, with a larger kitchen area in the new space, it seemed like a natural expansion of the business.

Passek said they always wanted to be located along Victoria Street, but didn’t want to be too far away from where they built their business over the last 10 years.

The Passeks are trying to sell their current turnkey restaurant on Third Avenue and will likely run both locations if it hasn’t sold by the spring.

FINE DINING EATERY TO CLOSE

The upscale eatery will close its doors on April 26 when its lease expires at 326 Victoria St.

The fine dining restaurant announced the closure via Facebook video, thanking its supporters over the past eight-and-a-half years. Owner David Tombs said he is looking for another space in Kamloops for the restaurant.

ORONGE BOARDING AWAY

The board shop downtown will closing its location at 257 Victoria St. at the end of April.

A Facebook post stated the owners are moving on in other directions. The business sells an assortment of snowboarding. skateboarding and wakeboarding equipment.
