Going with the flow: Nautique Wakefest is back this year! – Coconuts

PRESENTED BY

The annual Nautique Wakefest makes its return this September in Hong Kong, and like its name suggests, it’ll be anything BUT a snoozefest. For the unaware, it’s an annual international competition where the best in wakeboarding gather in Asia to compete. Wakeboarders from far corners of the globe will display their athletic prowess over an action-packed weekend.

That’s not all, as HILX Eyewear will be launching wakeboarder Shota Tezuka’s signature sunglasses series at the wakeboarding event. Known for their stylish, sporty and scratch-resistant (apparently even from a bullet, but we wouldn’t advise testing out that theory), their sunnies are perfect for high-impact sports such as wakeboarding.

Just ask the HILX athlete and the no. 5 ranked wakeboarder in the world, who will also be a guest judge at the event! Of course, you’ll also get to witness Shota warming up on the water surface (that is, if you count a 540 spin after a toeside frontside 360 as basic warmup maneuvers!)

So who is Shota Tezuka? Well, only a professional wakeboarder who turned pro at the age of twelve, no mean feat for any elementary school kid. Since then, the Japanese prodigy has risen through the ranks globally, and now trains with some of the wakeboarding greats in Orlando, Florida. It’s plain to see that his career is soaring to new heights, and he shares his story in a video about his wakeboarding career with HILX Eyewear.

Check out Shota’s backstory!

This year’s Nautique Wakefest is happening between September 20 – 22 at the Tai Po Waterfront in Hong Kong, and promises to be quite the spectacle. Don’t forget to RSVP to the event here! The after party will be held at Deadman in Hong Kong on Sunday, September 22, so don’t miss it.
