DolosFees to heat up Richards Bay – Zululand Observer

GREAT music, food vendors and lots of activities for the whole family are what Zululanders can look forward to at this year’s DolosFees.

The festival takes place at the open grounds across from Zululand Multi Sport Club near Alkantstrand from 20 to 22 September.

Friday

On Friday, local performers will compete in the Zululand’s Got Talent competition.

‘Human trumpet’ Sibusiso from SA’s Got Talent fame will entertain the audience, followed by local favourite Daniel Hoffmann and then Thys die Bosveldklong.

Newcomer Demi Lee Moore and the popular Bok van Blerk will end off the evening.

In addition to the musical entertainment, festival-goers can visit the bohemian gin bar and wine tent, browse the flea market stalls or enjoy a bite to eat in the food court.

‘Boerepompie’ and ‘Hardekole’ fans will enjoy Ricus Nel’s performance on the Sunday

Saturday

Saturday will be jam-packed with action.

From bodyboarding and surfing lessons on the beach, to horse riding, a skateboarding competition and inflatables for the kids – the fun won’t stop.

Take part in the doughnut and hot dog eating competition, or traditional egg-and-spoon or sack races.

Models can enter the Miss DolosFees pageant, with registrations starting at 8.30am.

Bring the little ones to see mascots Dienkie and Doedels’s show at 10.30am.

There will be a big screen for rugby fans to watch the Bokke take on the All Blacks.

Ladies are urged to attend the Hanna charity ladies’ tea at 9am (R80 a ticket).

Guest speaker Hanna Grobler will enlighten and inspire the ladies. Please bring a toiletry donation for the beneficiaries of Hanna Charity.

Embark on a township tour of eSikhaleni, which includes a stroll through a traditional flea market and lunch at a tavern.

The tour departs from the DolosFees main gate at 11am. Tickets cost R100 per person. Contact Vanessa on 066 420 7918.

Zululand’s Got Talent continues on Saturday afternoon, followed by a performance by last year’s winner, Ncumsile.

Steven Reynolds takes to the stage at 5pm, followed by Monique Strydom. Refentse and Jan Blohm. The evening will end with an energetic performace by Dirk van der Westhuizen.

Parents can leave their children in the care of Stepping Stones, who will be doing babysitting from 6pm to 11pm at R50 per child.

Sunday

If you’re a fan of country music, dig out your cowboy boots and make sure you get to the DolosFees on Sunday for all things country.

The line-up consists of Ricus Nel, Cheree & Wynand Strydom, Michelle Jooste, Sorika Coetzer and Priscilla Rauscher.

There will be prizes for the best dressed country fans.
