TAIO Coulonval is Kloof Junior Primary School’s SPAR Star of the Month.
She started bodyboarding at the age of four when her big brother, Teegan, a pro rider for KZN, took her out on a tandem ride off of North Beach one day. Since then she has wanted to follow in his footsteps and compete in the sport.
Taio made the KZN team in 2019 and competed at the SA Champs in Port Alfred where she won her division and was crowned the SA Girls’ Champ for 2019. Taio competes in the development girls division which consists of girls under 12 years old.
Taio is the youngest girl to have received KZN colours and compete at a national level in the sport. She is excited to travel to Lamberts Bay in Cape Town during the September school holidays to compete in the four-day SA Tour.
